Gameplay

In this game each player builds on two castles, together with their neighbours, left and right. The castle that scores lowest will be the final score.

Each player starts with 9 tiles of which they may pick 2, one for each castle. Then the players discuss with their neighbours what would be the best tile for their shared castle. Then the tiles will all go to the player to the right. Play continues until there is one tile left. This tile will then be discarded and each player gets another 9 tiles for the second round. If there's just one more tile left for the second time, game ends and the castles scores will be calculated.

The player that scores highest with their lowest castle, wins the game.

Each tile has its own 'power' and way to score points. If there are three in the castle, that castle gets a bonus, specific to that tile faction. If there are five of the same tiles in the castle, you get to place a bonus tile.

Thoughts

I really enjoy this game. I like the fact that it can play up to 7 players and that you build on 2 castles in stead of 1.

With 2 players, I still enjoy it because I just like building the castles and the game still feels new to me, but it does take away some of the experience of discussing. I think it is best played with more players.

Having said that, I'm also super curious for the expansion, since it comes with two different solovariants! Always like it when some effort is spend on this.

It's a nice tileplacement game which is easy to teach and I'm a big fan of the mechanic of working together but also playing for yourself.
