Gameplay

In Biotopia, players grow flowers and attract butterflies to their garden in order to gain sweet victory points.

Players start with a hand of four cards, of which everyone plays one of these backside up as a flower in their garden. After this players take turns playing one of these actions:

- Drawing a card from the deck

- Taking a card from the open area

- Playing a card from the hand as a flower

- Playing a card from the hand

- Taking one of the mission cards when requirements are met

In order to play a butterfly 🦋, there must be enough flowers in the garden. Each butterfly has a unique special ability, which can assure you some extra points.

Play continues until one of the players has 15 points. After this, play continues until everyone has had their last turn and the player with the most points wins the game!

Thoughts

When I saw this game for the first time I was immediately sold on the artwork and it's simplicity. I really like how fast this game plays and the cuteness of the theme.

Biotopia is an easy to teach game and is perfect for in between other games. If you like butterflies and quick pretty games, you should definitely check this one out!
