Gameplay

Cartographers is one of my favourite roll and write games, so I was super happy when I got these map packs to review from Intrafin!

The map packs consist of 3 additional maps with a new ruleset each, which can be used together with the base game of cartographers or with the heroes variant. Also a mixture can be used, but I haven't tried this yet.

🔥NEBBLIS🔥

For the setup of this map some Volcano cards are added to the main deck of cards. When these cards are drawn, players have to destroy spaces on the map surrounding the volcano on their sheet of paper.

🔹AFFRIL🔹

There is a new scorecard added to this map. You start by connecting two islands and these are the only ones you can build in, until you spend a coin to make a new connection.

💧UNDERCITY💧

This map is divided in two spaces, under water and above water. Again a new scorecard is added to the setup. Players are allowed to build spaced either completely under water or completely above water. Also they must create a path from connected shapes that ends at the gate.

Thoughts

Overall I'm very happy with these additions, it's fun that in this expansion the 'newness' comes from the maps in stead of from the assignments or the deck of cards. They each have a very different approach, which I like a lot 😊

8.5/10

A copy of this game was provided to me by Intrafin for the purpose of writing this review. My opinion however remains my own.
