Gameplay

Players build up habitats of the Pacific Northwest together with their wildlife.

On a turn a player selects a pair consisting of a tile and an animal token beneath it and places it against one of their already placed tiles. The token can then be placed upon any tile containing its sign.

Each game consists of a new combination of scoring cards, indicating how to score points at the end of the game per animal placed. Points are also awarded per landtype for the biggest area of it.

Thoughts

👍 I really like the simplicity of this game. Take a combination of a habitat tile and a token and place it in your own puzzle. It’s easy to learn and teach and has enough tension to keep you going.

👍 The replayability is good, you can mix and match the various scoring cards into heaps of combinations.

👍 The gameplay is so much fun! I really like these puzzly games! It feels a bit more forgiving than for instance Calico, another great tileplacement game I really like (I might do a comparison later on these 2)

👍➖ The components of the game are great, I would've liked to see them printed on both sides of the tokens though

👍➖ There is not much player interaction

Solomode

The solomode plays the same as a normal game of #cascadia, but after taking a tile and token, the rightmost tile and token are also discarded and replaced. There are a lot of very nice scenarios included, with goals and a victory route, which are a delight to play. Highly recommended for solitaire plays this one!
