Gameplay

In Mariposas you and your fellow players represent a flock of butterflies moving in three seasons from Mexico through America. During this journey you collect different flowers where you land which help you unpop new butterflies and also you stop at sanctuaries where butterflies lifecycles will get a special boost. All the while you are submerged to changing weather conditions every season, which makes a change of strategy inevetable throughout this game. Will your butterflies survive or will they have had a marvellous journey? You may win either way.

Thoughts

I was really excited to learn Elizabeth Hargrave designed a new board game, so I was very eager to try out Mariposas. And what a delight it is! I deliberately covered earlier how the boardgame is thematically entangled, because in my view this is where the strength of the game lies. Beautiful, playfull and light. Just like a butterfly.

A copy of this game was provided to me by White Goblin Games for the purpose of writing this review. My opinion however remains my own.
