Board game review & gameplay of: Powerline

Gameplay

In powerlines, one player rolls the dice and everyone builds on their own powerlines!

They do so by going either from left to right or from right to left placing the coloured workers matching the dice colours on the right numbers.

On top players remove a token depending on how many workers they placed. If you skip a worker in line, this costs 1 minus point! Tokens can be earned to change a number to your liking.

After the 5th, 10th and final round, scoring takes place, depending on what score cards are chosen at the start.

There are also some extra modules to figure out, which I will not go further in detail about here.

Thoughts

Overall this is a fun game to play, which I really like to play solo and can recommend to lovers of roll and write games!

👍 fun fastpaced game that really gives that roll and write feel, but then on a boardgame

👍 the way the workers are assigned woth the pips of the coloured dice is well thought off, I like the choice you are presented each turn

👍 good overall soloexperience

👍 ➖more a solitaire than a multiplayer game, there is no interaction. I however, don’t mind this as much as some might

➖ its a quite abstract game, the theme is there, but it could easily have been somthing completely different

➖ sometimes it’s really difficult to place a worker. They tried to mitigate this by spending a coin or with the island to skip a worker/die. It can feel a bit punishing at times

A copy of this game was provided to me by White Goblin Games for the purpose of writing this review. My opinion however remains my own.
