Gameplay
In Caper players will be sending their thieves to various locations and equip them with gear. The player with the most caper per location will be collecting the points of that location.
On the round mat is shown who goes first and what type and how many cards each player will start with. Players take turns drafting cards and playing it under a certain location, resolving its effects. They can also choose to get a coin when discarding a card.
Players continue until they are at the end on the round mat and calculate scores. The player with the highest score wins the game!
Thoughts
I was very curious about this game, since it was the only game originally published by Keymaster Games I hadn´t played yet.
I really enjoy this game. At first I thought it would resemble 7 wonders duel, but this was not really the case. Yes, you take turns drafting cards and play them immidiately, but both games have different ways to victory. In Caper it is all focussed on having the most Caper per location that can score you points and making combinations of tools your thieves need.
Only downside are the red cards in my opinion. When played, you get to turn one of the opponents last played cards upside down. This feels a bit harsh. But having said that, it doesn´t bother me that much for me not to love this game.
I love the different ways to collect points, and the fact that you can occasionally bully your opponent. And, the game looks absolutely gorgeous!
Highly appreciate this game, cant wait to play it more!
A copy of this game was provided to me by Jumbo Games for the purpose of writing this review. My opinion however remains my own.
