Gameplay
In Mindspace, players try to fill up their brain with desires, necessities and emotions! They do so by fitting various tetrislike shapes on a 9*9 grid.
A game consists of 12 round, the end is indicated with an empty deck of cards. Each round, dice are rolled and placed in their ‘spot’ above a shapecard. Each player then picks a shape and its accompanying colour and places it anywhere on their player board (first one is freely placed, after this they must touch!).
All five colours score different:
💜Purple - hobbies: 2P for each space touching an orange space
🧡Orange - friendships: XP equal to the leftmost number thats not crossed off
🩷Pink - romance: each pink shape gets points for other equal shapes
💙Blue - self improvement: minus points equal to the leftmost square not crossed off
💚Green - finances: no points, bit coins with which you can buy shapes!
Players also score points for three end of round goals and if they fill up each space of a section.
After 12 rounds, players calculate scores, highest score wins!
Thoughts
I really enjoy this little game. The component quality is very nice and I really like the theme (even though the theme doesn’t really shine).
👍 Gameplay is fun and rules are simple
👍 Artwork looks really hice and component quality is solid
👍 Plays up to 5 players
👍 The small box fits right into your backpack!
➖ The game is not that innovative
➖Personally I don’t really enjoy beat your own highscore solomodes
Solomode
The solomode is beat your own high score, not my favourite to solo!
A copy of this game was provided to me by Allplay Games for the purpose of writing this review. My opinion however remains my own.
