Board game review & gameplay of: hues and cues

Gameplay

In this game players try to be as close to the colour in question as possible. Every player gets 2 turns to be the cue giver (in a 3-6 player game, only 1 in a 7-10 player game).

On their turn, the cue giver takes a card and firstly gives 1 cue to direct the players in the right direction. Players take turns placing one of their colour pawns on the colourspace they think comes closest to the actual hue. After this, the cue giver gives 2 cues and players take turns again guessing the colour. Players are not allowed to have their pawn on the same space.

When everybody placed a pawn, scoring begins. The cue giver places the scoring square so that the hue in question is precisely in the middle. Any player that guessed the colour presicely score 3 points, all other players that are within the square score 2 points and the ones touching the square gain 1 point each.

After every player has had their 2 (1 with 6+ players) turns, the player with the most points wins.

Thoughts

👍 It feels very innovative! I’ve never played a game about just colours. It feels like this is exactly what it should have been.

👍 Sometimes you just don’t get the players in the right direction and that often causes a good laugh.

👍 It plays up to 10 players and it’s very engaging for every player each turn

❌ The component quality is not great. It’s ok, but could’ve been better.
